Becoming A Star
Nowadays, televisions are performing programs about how to be a star. Pioneered by SCTV, which gave Pop Star, followed by Indosiar, which offers [offering] Akademi Fantasi Indosiar and the last but not least, RCTI which present [presenting] Indonesian Idol an adaptation program from United States. No wonders there are many teenagers and adults who dream to be celebrities. Being popular, get many luxurious things and liked by people are a few of their expectations when they turn out to be celebrities.
To show that hard work is needed if they want something is clearly showed in the program. It makes the programs have a value. However, the drawbacks are also not a little. The programs construct the mind of young generations that become a celebrity is the only way if they want to be a star. They are just given an idea about how to be popular, famous and can get stuff they want. They just think about themselves, they rarely bear in mind how to be valuable for others or to have a significant role in society.
Actually, there are many occupations to be a star that young people can take, occupations that have activities are worthwhile for many people. For example, we can help homeless children who live in the street a free education by teaching them. We can collect charity for people who get natural disaster and we may become a volunteer for humanity mission. What have [has] been mentioned are only a few of activities that people can experience the beneficial. What comes up in my mind is that is it true being [to be] a star is always [only] being [to be] a celebrity?
